Come Join Us!
We would love to take in new students interested in a challenge and looking for new opportunities to join Team Komodo! We also value the contributions of our team mentors and parents for without their support, we could not succeed. Check down below on how to apply to the team for Students, Mentors, and Parents who are looking to get into a robotics team, be part of an amazing community, and get a taste of the engineering world!
Team 4293 for Students |
Students of FRC Team Komodo 4293 have a unique opportunity to experience the STEM fields, as well as business basics, through participation in the FIRST Robotics program. We strive to operate our team like a real-world engineering business. Student leaders work closely with industry mentors to model team decisions and operations like those of today's engineering firms. Team members must also learn to keep track of team finances and commit to fundraising to help with team expenses. Our number one priority in all activities is safety. Students and mentors continually stress and evaluate all operations within the FRC safety guidelines. The majority of our meetings are hosted at the Focused on Machining shop in Louviers, Colorado. Our team members are fortunate to experience the expertise of shop mentors and cutting-edge machinery at Focused on Machining during every step of the robot building process.
Within our overall team structure, team members participate on different sub teams or departments, such as mechanical, electrical, and programming, to create, design, test and build a competitive robot built to perform specific and targeted actions. Students volunteer to be placed on different sub-teams based on their individual interests. Students, therefore, work in the department of their choice over a six week build period. Team members also participate in overall team activities such as fundraising and team spirit. The build season culminates with participation in the Colorado Regional FIRST competition at the Magness Arena at Denver University. Our team meets year round with activities outside the regular build season that concentrate on skills classes, team building, team spirit and fundraising.
As part of the Team Komodo, our team members enjoy working closely with mentors in STEM related industries. They learn how to use industry standard machines and equipment and develop values that can be used in future careers and in everyday life. The FIRST Robotics organization offers scholarships, internships, and other unique opportunities that are difficult to find anywhere else. Team members are encouraged to take advantage of every opportunity related to the FIRST program. While this is an extremely fun experience, it also requires a lot of work and effort. In the end, students and their families find the hard work and dedication to the team well worth the time and effort spent. Membership in our program is free of charge. We expect team members to contribute their best to the team, abide by the rules, learn and demonstrate skills all while having fun being part of Team Komodo!
You're also always welcome to drop by a meeting at the shop! Come visit us during any meeting at:

Mentors in Team 4293 |
Team Komodo 4293 would not be possible without the help of our amazing mentors! Many of our mentors are engineers and programmers working for companies including United Launch Alliance (ULA), Lockheed Martin and VISA . However, we need additional mentors to assist with team meetings, marketing, team spirit and finance. We are always looking for mentors interested in working with high school aged teens; industry related experience is not a must. If you are interested in becoming a mentor and/or helping out with our programs, go ahead and complete the application form posted above. Please also feel free to contact us at Yeaboard@youngengineers.us.
We accept donations of materials and supplies at any time during the year. As our team meetings and functions involve many hungry teens, we are always grateful for donations of food and bottled water.

Team 4293 for Parents |
In order to keep our programs running smoothly, we ask that parents be as involved as possible. We need help keeping students organized, on-track, and safe around the machinery needed to build a robot. For each family with students enrolled in a robotics program, we request that parents try to attend some meetings and provide supervision. The time spent with students of Team Komodo will enliven and brighten your day. To see students participate in the robotics competition and learn skills outside of a regular classroom setting is inspiring. If you don't have any children in the team consider being a mentor for the team and give advice and guidance shaping members' STEM and team experience. By being involved in Team Komodo, you might just learn something too!
